Avantika stood before the mirror, her hands trembling as she adjusted the intricate embroidery on her bridal lehenga. The weight of the outfit, adorned with delicate sequins and beads, felt like a physical manifestation of the expectations that came with it.
As she gazed at her reflection, Avantika's mind wandered to the life she was about to embark on. She would soon be leaving the comfort and security of her childhood home, bound for a new family and a new life with a man she barely knew anything about just his name - Digvijay.
A gentle knock on the door broke the spell & compelled her to look back at her mother Nalini who entered the room with a warm smile. "Avantika, beta, you look stunning," Nalini said, her eyes brimming with tears. "Just like a princess, I can't believe today you have become a big girl" Nalini said with a teary smile.
Avantika forced a smile, trying to hide the anxiety that had been building up inside her.
"Mom, I'm scared," Avantika whispered, her voice barely audible. "What if I'm not good enough? What if his family doesn't like me?" Her mother's expression turned serious, and she sat down beside Avantika on the bed.
"Avantika, you have to understand that marriage is a compromise," Nalini said, her voice firm but gentle though she was also have some fear about the upcoming future of her daughter.
"You'll have to adjust to their ways, and they'll have to adjust to yours. But always remember, beta, that you're not alone. You'll always have us, your family, to support you."
Avantika nodded, trying to absorb her mother's words of wisdom. "But, Mom, what about...what about the things I want?" Avantika asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her mother's expression softened, and she took Avantika's hands in hers."Those things will come, beta," her mother said. "But first, you have to prioritize your duties as a wife and daughter-in-law. Remember, a good wife is one who makes her husband and his family happy." Avantika nodded, feeling a pang of sadness. She knew that her life was about to change forever, and she wasn't sure if she was ready.
As Avantika's mother, Nalini, walked her to the wedding mandap, the sound of chanting and music filled the air. Her heart raced with anticipation and nervousness. She had never seen her soon to be husband before, and the veil of her wedding dress obscured her view.
But as she glanced through the netting of her veil, she caught glimpses of a tall, imposing figure. She couldn't make out his features clearly, but she sensed a confident air about him. His attire, adorned with intricate embroidery and precious stones, seemed to radiate an aura of wealth and sophistication. Avantika's mind wandered to the stories she had heard about Digvijay's family. They were known for their business empire and philanthropic endeavors. She wondered what kind of person Digvijay was, beyond his polished exterior.
After completing every rituals thoroughly the priest pronounced them husband and wife, Avantika felt a mix of emotions. She was relieved that the ceremony was over, but a sense of nervousness still lingered.
With the rituals complete, Avantika and Digvijay sought the blessings of their elders. They touched the feet of Digvijay's parents, who bestowed their blessings upon them. Next, they sought the blessings of Digvijay's elder brother and his wife, who welcomed Avantika into their family with warm smiles.
As it was time of bidai Avantika bid farewell to her own family, a pang of sadness struck her heart. Just like any other girl she wants to in her life, to achieve her dreams but as usual she was married in such a young age just for her family she did this. She knew she would miss them dearly, but she also knew that she had to start a new life with Digvijay.
With a heavy heart, she turned to leave, her eyes brimming with tears with just thinking What lay ahead for her in this new chapter of her life?
